The Centre of Aviation Photography (COAP) is the world’s largest aviation photography organisation and provides the best aviation photography experiences in the world.
COAP Wings operates a year-round programme of professionally run, worldwide aviation photography trips, shoots and air-to-air photography flights - all totally dedicated to the aviation photographer and run by pro aviation shooters.
COAP was founded in 2015 by award-winning photographer and journalist Rich Cooper and globally travelled aviation photographer Steve Comber.
A year later came COAP Media (www.coapmedia.com), delivering world-class results to specialist media, online and in print.
In 2020–2021, airline pilot and filmmaker Tom Dalt joined to create COAP Online (www.coaponline.com), now the leading learning and community platform for aviation photographers.
In 2023 we added Ian Allan Aviation Tours (IAAT), the world’s most experienced aviation tour operator.
Together, COAP Wings, COAP Media, COAP Online and IAAT create the most complete aviation photography organisation in the world, offering unique trips, world-class media, expert education and heritage tours.
We celebrated our first decade of operations in 2025. During that time, we’ve delivered some of the most historic and significant shoots of recent times, and we continue to provide the very best experiences, opportunities and community in aviation photography.
A great question! We often get asked what the difference is between trips delivered by COAP Wings versus those delivered by our IAAT brand.
COAP Wings is built for photographers. Our trips are designed around light, vantage points and access, with the pace, intensity and detail that aviation photography demands.
Ian Allan Aviation Tours (IAAT) has a broader appeal - it is an established home for enthusiasts who simply want to absorb all kinds of aviation at a different pace.
Together they complement each other... COAP Wings for immersive photography adventures, and IAAT for heritage-rich, enthusiast-focused tours.
