A destination that isn't regularly found on aviation photography tours, this trip to Norway is idea for aviation photographers who want something different and more than just a single show.

COAP's 2026 Norway Special is a multi-location exploration combining live flying action, rare aircraft collections, and time to shoot, review, and improve across a full week.

The centrepiece of the trip is the Sola Airshow, one of Scandinavia’s most engaging aviation events. Over two full days you’ll have the chance to photograph a strong mix of modern military aircraft, fast jet displays, and visiting specials, along with well-presented statics. With two show days, there’s flexibility to adapt to conditions, refine your positioning, and go again for improved results.

What really sets this trip apart is what surrounds the airshow! We start at Oslo Gardermoen, visiting the Norwegian Military Aircraft Collection. A real opportunity to get close to historic airframes in a controlled environment. This provides a strong contrast to the high-speed panning and action heavy shooting at Sola and gives everyone the chance to capture detailed, considered images of a fascinating military air arm.

After the airshow, our trip continues north to Bodø, home to the Bodø Aviation Museum - one of the standout aviation museums in Europe! It has a wide-ranging collection that adds depth to the overall experience, particularly for those interested in Cold War and Norwegian aviation history, and a great 'bucket list' tick from such an unusual destination.

Travel between locations is part of the experience rather than a necessity. The route from Gardermoen to Stavanger offers changing landscapes and the chance to break the journey, while an internal flight north to Bodø enables access to a part of Norway that would otherwise be out of reach in a week-long trip.

Just as important as the flying and aircraft is the group dynamic. This is a small, like-minded group of enthusiasts, each one consisting of three photographers and a tour manager, and each day finishes with informal debriefs over a drink, shared meals, and open discussion about the day's action. It’s a proven COAP formula; a relaxed but focused environment, ideal whether you’re refining your technique or simply enjoying the opportunity to shoot alongside others who share the same interest.

Overall, this trip is about variety, access, and consistency of opportunity, giving you multiple chances to come away with strong images, not just from one event, but across a complete aviation-focused journey.
