This immersive shoot will bring history to life with a full cast of dedicated reenactors portraying aircrew, ground crew, and airfield staff, all set against a backdrop of authentic equipment, uniform, flight-kit and period vehicles.
This event is the replacement for the originally planned Winter Warbirds night shoot earlier in the year. Due to ongoing serviceability issues with the Hawker Tempest, we have now arranged an alternative Warbirds shoot for October 1tth at Sywell Aerodrome.
The event has now been themed to relive aspects of a WWII USAAF Airfield in authentic detail…
Step back in time with unique aviation photography opportunities featuring two legendary icons of the United States Army Air Force: the P-51 Mustang and the P-47 Thunderbolt.
Similar in style to the ‘Greatest Shoot’ held with Sally B at North Weald in 2023, the scenarios we recreate will be live, dynamic operational activities, much like short film sequences; and designed to provide photographers with outstanding opportunities for action shots.
We also anticipate running both aircraft at night for some truly special sights, sounds and shots! serviceability permitting.
Across atmospheric dusk and night sessions, you’ll be able to capture powerful images that convey the spirit, drama, and intensity of a 1940s wartime airfield in England.
The cost increase over the initial estimate has been necessary as we have to reposition aircraft from Duxford specifically to Sywell for the event, as well as a large-scale increase in age-appropriate & kitted re-enactors for a totally different shoot.
We are limited to 60 photographers for this event so do not delay in booking your place.
A full itinerary will be published in the next few days and sent out to all booked participants prior to the event.
The event will be held at Sywell Aerodrome near Northampton, on Saturday 11th October and is expected to start at around sunset (final time to be confirmed).
A Hi-Vis Jacket/Vest will be required for this event, please bring one if you have it, or a limited supply of COAP vests will be available to borrow on the night.
