A photography-heavy hit on some European fighter action - experience winter shooting in one of the most beautiful countries in the world!
Live-armed legacy Hornet action as we travel to Switzerland in the depth of winter and shoot dramatic fighter action in all weathers, day and night, plus VIP transports from all overthe world, the Swiss AF Musuem and more!
The live-armed QRA/CAP missions of the Swiss AF F/A-18C Hornet fleet supporting the WEF is due to be based at Payerne AB and after our initial entry into the country via Zurich we will base ourselves a short distance from the base. Should weather conditions force a change to operations then we are only 90 minutes from the alternate location at Meiringen AB.
Sunday 18th January: Meet at Zurich airport from 1020hrs. We then collect our transport for the trip and head to the fantastic collection of rarities and Swiss aviation history at the Flieger Flab Musuem, Dübendorf.
Monday 19th January: We return to Zurich airport for some great photography action. We'll be shooting from the airport terrace spotting areas, before joining an organised tour a behind the scenes look at the visiting WEF VIP aircraft. Following the tour we will then visit the local areas of interest, including the Runway 34 restaurant and flight store with its unique layout around a preserved Ilyushin Il-14. Leaving the venue we drive onto Payerne to our base for the next few days.
Tuesday 20th January: We will spend the day around the perimeter of the Payerne AB. The base is home of the Quick Reaction Alert / air policing activities of the Swiss AF Hornet fleet, which fly live-armed in all weathers and all lighting conditions for some truly dramatic images. After dark, we return for some traditional Swiss cuisine and social debrief.
Wednesday 21st January: We will spend a second day around the perimeter of the Payerne AB and monitor the activities associated with the cycle of live-armed CAP missions as they maintain air security. This evening, another social evening to relive the day!
Thursday 23rd January: After capturing the morning and lunchtime action, we head back to Geneva airport to check-in for our return flights home.
This trip is offered as Land Only (From £1225pp in a shared twin room). Meet in Zurich and leave from Geneva based on the above timings. There is a £430pp supplement to upgrade to single room accommodation.
Flight quotes are available from your airport of choice and the timings must align with the above as closely as possible to ensure logistical arrangements. Do not book your flights without confirming with us first.
All vantage points for the base photography are off base and at present no base access is planned.
There will be an extra cost for the Zurich airport Behind the Scenes and the WEF Apron tours. We will book these as the trip becomes viable as they are third party operations and are non refundable.
