Red-and-white jets, winter mountain scenery and the atmosphere of Wengen’s famous Lauberhorn race weekend: join COAP for an aviation photography trip with a distinctly Alpine setting.

Our focus is the Patrouille Suisse flying programme associated with the International Lauberhorn Races. This offers the prospect of photographing the team in a mountain environment, with opportunities to combine aircraft action with the scale and character of the surrounding landscape.

This is a trip where the setting is part of the photographic appeal. Alongside tighter aircraft images, wider compositions can place the flying within its Alpine surroundings, making for a different collection of photographs from a conventional airshow visit.

Our three-day visit spans the currently published practice and display dates. The precise viewing arrangements and daily movements will be confirmed as planning progresses.

Highlights

- An aviation photography trip centred on the Patrouille Suisse at Wengen.

- The prospect of aircraft photography in a dramatic winter mountain setting.

- Opportunities to explore both aircraft detail and wider environmental compositions.

- A visit coinciding with the International Lauberhorn ski race weekend.

Please note: Patrouille Suisse participation and timings remain subject to final confirmation. Flying, visibility and photographic opportunities depend on weather, operational requirements and local access conditions.

We are currently finalising prices. Please use the button on this page to register your interest and be updated as soon as the trip goes on sale.

What you need to know

Flying programme and weather

This trip is planned around the Patrouille Suisse programme at the Lauberhorn races. Participation, practice sessions and displays remain subject to confirmation and may change or be cancelled. Mountain visibility will also affect the photographs available.

Winter conditions

Please prepare for extended periods outdoors in a winter mountain environment. Warm layers, a windproof and waterproof outer layer, a hat, gloves and sturdy waterproof footwear with good grip are recommended. Clothing should keep you comfortable while standing still as well as walking.

Walking and suitability

The walking distance, gradients and proximity of facilities will depend on the final viewing locations. Snow or ice may make surfaces more demanding.

Please contact us before booking if you have reduced mobility, tire easily or need regular seated rest breaks, so we can discuss the actual arrangements with you.

Getting around

Wengen is car-free, so access involves mountain transport rather than driving directly to the village. Final joining instructions will explain our route, connections and any walking involved.

Photography equipment

As general photographic guidance, bring a telephoto or telephoto zoom for aircraft and a wider lens for compositions that include the mountains. A flexible zoom is useful when aircraft distance changes quickly.

Carry spare camera batteries, keep them warm when not in use, and bring protection for your equipment against snow or moisture. Specific lens guidance will follow once our viewing positions are confirmed.

Viewing arrangements

The final briefing will identify where we intend to photograph, how we will get there and which tickets or passes are required. Please do not assume that the trip includes reserved viewing, a grandstand, hospitality or access to restricted areas.

Travel and inclusions

This is a Land-only package (Flights are not included).

Flights may be booked through H-C Travle or you may choose to arrnage your own flights. Arrival and departure times must fit the group’s airport transfers times.

Do not book independent flights until COAP has confirmed that the trip is proceeding and approved your proposed timings.
