Join COAP for an exclusive opportunity to experience one of Europe's most exciting military aviation photography events. Limited to just five participants, this trip is built around the Romanian Air Force Spotters' Day on 15th July, offering photographers a rare chance to capture fast jet operations in a genuinely operational environment.
This event takes place at Caraiman Peak in the Prahova Valley and is usually accessed by a cable car journey and an hours a further hike to the peak, or optionally via a two hour trek from the nearest car park. A basic level of fitness and mobility is therefore strongly advised for this trip.
Unlike many European Spotters' Days, where the emphasis is often on static aircraft and routine circuit flying, the Romanian Air Force event is closely integrated with active military training. Aircraft fly realistic operational profiles designed to replicate combat missions, creating a far more dynamic and unpredictable photographic experience.
One of the highlights is the extensive low-level flying. Fast jets regularly make high-speed passes at impressively low altitudes, banking hard, climbing aggressively and returning in realistic tactical formations. These aren't carefully choreographed display routines, they are authentic training sorties that provide photographers with dramatic action and unique angles rarely seen elsewhere in Europe.
With only five places available, this small-group trip offers a relaxed atmosphere, excellent viewing opportunities and plenty of time to enjoy one of the most photographer-friendly military aviation events on the European calendar.
If you're looking for something beyond the standard Spotters' Day experience, Romania delivers excitement, atmosphere and spectacular photographic opportunities that are difficult to match.
The cost for this trip is £870pp land-only (excluding any flights) and all accommodation will be single rooms.
