Behind the Scenes at Shuttleworth - A tour around the history and operation of this iconic vintage aviation collection with exclusive VIP access.
On Saturday 14th February, The Shuttleworth Collection team will host an exclusive COAP behind-the-scenes day at the famous Old Warden venue.
Why is this event special?
The Shuttleworth Collection is home to some of the oldest airworthy aircraft in the world, from the pioneering 1909 machines to the 1950s classics and we'll be going behind the scenes to see and hear what it takes to keep them flying!
We will get have access to the Collection's hangars filled with vintage aeroplanes & veteran vehicles - all restored and kept in working order.
This visit really is an exciting peek behind the curtain! Get a rare look behind the scenes and see engineers at work in the workshops preserving and maintaining these timeless machines. A rare and VIP opportunity to see the heritage aviation scene up close and first hand.
We will have the opportunity to photograph the exhibits and items from the collection, as well as time and freedom to explore the exhibits outside the busy event diary.

Afterwards, you can stay overnight at a nearby hotel (we suggest The Crown Hotel or The Stratton House Hotel) for a relaxed social debrief over a drink and a meal (at your own expense). This isgreat chance to share thoughts about the day, share shots, chat about gear, swap stories and enjoy good like-minded company.

Old Warden is more than just aeroplanes - the vintage vehicles, gardens, House and grounds make it a beautiful weekend retreat. Plus, there are lots of other aviaiotn heritage & National Trust attractions nearby for Sunday.

10:00 Arrival, meet and greet, complimentary hot drinks for all
10:30 Free time for all to briefly explore Collection & Swiss Garden
11:00 Guided Tour of the Collection (in small groups)
13:00 Break for lunch (a filled jacket potato and tea or coffee, all included in the ticket price)
14:00 Pilot talk with one of the Collection pilots inc Q&A
15:00 Finish day off with visit to engineering workshop with pilot and speak to engineers who will give overview of operations, up close behind the scenes & behind the barriers etc
16:00/16:30 Approx – departure
